Review:

Landroller: "Get out of Line"

--Pros:--
1 Balanced design. Angled-wheel design seems much more balanced on each foot, allowing me to take strides at least as long as I could stand on one foot without moving, even while going downhill.
2 Big wheels. Big wheels allow it to handle poor paving like a champ! (Failure to handle bumpy pavement was my big pet peeve on traditional rollerblades.)
3 Star factor. They're cool.
4 Cool factor. They make me think.
5 Join the fish. They should be called LandSwimmers. You can freeze your leg's angle about the knee and then manipulate the shoe with the power of the hip, lean back and you're practically walking on air. It looks like you're walking on water, even though there's no water there. Even people who cannot see the skates (or especially them!) are looking at you and going "How the hell is he moving at that level of erection, ease, and speed?!" Shh, this is my little secret, our little secret now. Most users fail to learn of this manner of control that is available to those who practice diligently.

--CONS:--
1 Slow. To me at least they seem slower than old blades.  New "MoJo" model is even better AND slower :) and offers an upgrade to faster bearings, but I have not tried them.
2 Fall hard. A side effect of the height, itself a side effect of big wheels. I recommend not falling, and if you must fall, don't tear your rotator cuff.
3 UPDATE: New Mojo model FIXED THIS PROBLEM! :)  MOJO wheels have much thicker and stronger rubber, and they are just FANTASTIC after a little breaking in; much more durable than the old wheels.  Also, the new break design is also much better in terms of substantially reduced wear. (The following criticism applies to older versions: Brittle wheels. The rubber on the wheels wears down pretty quickly so I need frequent replacements. Also the wheels don't support t-stops, but my bad knees didn't support them anyway. I do not find Landrollers handle grass or gravel better than traditional inlines, but they do seem to handle water better.)
4 Reeducation. First you have to unlearn the traditional skate and learn the art of anglewheeling. The friend who inspired me to get mine said his reeducation took half an hour. Mine took about 30 hours, i.e., a month or two of daily practice, or perhaps it remains incomplete.
5 Name. Sounds too much like LandRover. And it seems to emphasize Off-road functionality, and this is precisely the feature where it as yet fails to deliver (UPDATE: but Mr. MoJo is rising toward this ideal -- they do handle soil and gravel better!), even as it delivers more than it promises in such fundamental areas as balance and stability.
6 Addictive. They've given me disgusting dancer's feet. Because I'm having too much fun :p  UPDATE: Mojos are much nicer on my feet too! :)
